Elmar Sprink is the “Biker of the Year 2018”

Elmar Sprink, long-standing P. Jentschura fan, has been awarded the “Biker of the Year 2018” award by the bike brands of the special interest media company Motor Presse Stuttgart. In addition to this special honour, the special thing about this year’s winner is this: Elmar received a donor heart in June 2012, making him the first recipient of a heart transplant ever to receive this award. It is awarded annually to a particularly deserving athlete, entrepreneur or sponsor of cycling. Even though Elmar Sprink is one of the 130,000 people worldwide to have received a donor heart, his fitness level impresses many. In 2014, he was the first athlete with a donor heart to conquer the Ironman Hawaii.
“Elmar inspires all who meet him with his fantastic energy and courage,” says Roland Jentschura, who has been following Elmar Sprink’s unbelievable career for many years. Elmar Sprink’s history seems inconceivable: He was just 38 years old when he suffered a sudden heart failure. Sprink spent two whole years in hospital. Before this, he was a longdistance triathlete. His great dream was to participate in the Ironman Hawaii. At his peak, he had a resting pulse rate of just 45 beats a minute. Following the cardiac arrest and resuscitation in July 2010, his heart continued to deteriorate and he was told that he required a donor heart a year later.
His dream faded into the distance. But in June 2012, he received the much needed organ and, since that day, he has fought back in his sporting career. As early on as October 2013, he ran a half-marathon again before finally fulfilling his dream in 2014: He was the first transplant recipient ever to finish the Ironman Hawaii! Due to his severe illness, Elmar Sprink wanted to take even greater care of his body and stumbled across P. Jentschura. A balanced acid-base balance can improve a person’s sporting performance immensely! The products and, above all, Jentschura’s philosophy made a significant contribution to Elmar Sprink’s rehabilitation. By 2017, he had won three medals at the World Transplant Games.
