Nature is basically the focus of P. Jentschura's products. But they also have to be produced, packaged and transported. In order to have its own environmental commitment objectively evaluated, the long-established company subjected itself to an audit commission as part of the Ökoprofit project of the city of Münster and the district of Warendorf. And now the commission has presented P. Jentschura with an award.

"We found that at P. Jentschura, a consistent orientation towards environmental protection is evident far beyond meeting mandatory regulations," explains commission member Uschi Sander from the environmental office of the city of Münster. Particular emphasis was placed on a high level of commitment in a broad-based environmental team, organic input products and materials of high ecological quality. Further plus points were the reduction of the use of resources through the reduction of film packaging and the recycling of waste gauze produced in the manufacture of functional textiles, the decision not to send free sample bags, the reduction of print runs in product advertising, and the aspect of sustainability as a training objective at the Jentschura NaturKundeAkademie, which will open in 2023 and for whose construction only regional suppliers are used. The switch to FSC cardboard from sustainable forestry was also rated positively.

The P. Jentschura brand has stood for natural products for 30 years. "Sustainability is very important to us. That's why we are constantly evolving and making our contribution to CO2 and waste reduction," explains Managing Director Barbara Jentschura. Even the transportation and storage of the natural ingredients are carried out effectively in a way that conserves raw materials. "Our books show virtually no destruction of materials - and all of that without chemical pest control, but solely through observation, hygiene and optimal environmental conditions for the raw materials," emphasizes Barbara Jentschura. The award represents an additional commitment to actively keep ecological sustainability in mind at all times." In the course of the Ökoprofit project participation, CO2 emissions as well as energy and water consumption were again significantly reduced in production.

Their high-quality body care products are natural cosmetics certified according to the COSMOS standard. The foods are organic products produced in accordance with the EC Eco Regulation, to which the company is certified in its entirety. In addition, the manufacturer of alkaline food and body care products also strives to do ecological good through very small things. For example, the buildings are built to the highest energy standard - supplemented in the future by a photovoltaic system. Only green electricity is used and there are four charging stations for e-vehicles. Double-sided printing is the standard setting on our computers, and there are washable cloth bags for used paper towels. In addition, strips of flowering plants in the outdoor area not only provide colour, but were deliberately created to be bee-friendly.

The careful use of energy and resources at the P. Jentschura brand was praised not only by the Ökoprofit organizers, but also by the state of North Rhine-Westphalia: "With innovative measures and intelligent solutions, you are taking responsibility and making your contribution toward addressing climate change," emphasized Daniel Hartmann from the Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Transport.
