The tradition of wraps
Already among the Byzantine physicians (in the 7th century A.D.) as well as Paracelsus, the Swiss physician and natural philosopher (16th century A.D.), the benefits of hydrotherapy (water therapy) were well known and were actively used.
The most widespread water treatments date back to the 19th century and originate from Sebastian Kneipp. At that time, the priest and hydrotherapist treated his patients with “wet stockings” to cure their illnesses.
Dr. h. c. Peter Jentschura has extended the traditional water wrap to include alkalinity and, in combination with MeineBase/AlkaBath (pH value 8.5), perfected it to be alkaline.
